Trapping Canon is a video which illustrates the repeated and restricted life in the time of pandemic, accompanying selected audio clips from Canon BWV 1087 written by Johann Sebastian Bach. In the time of pandemic, people are accustomed and subjected to the reality that we are trapped in daily routine, spatially and timely. We are limited, and we are segregated. Following the principles of social distance, everyone stays in individual space, forming a collective grid of facade, for the buildings and for the world. Supermarkets are the few spaces where we run for a larger volume of freedom. Nevertheless, the repeated stacks are just another configuration of repeated maze. The classic music strategy of Canon is to repeat the main melody, and adjustments for each chorus are added to accomplish a harmonic symphony. In Trapping Canon, the actor goes through the alleys in the supermarket, where the world is reverted, flipped and overlapped according to the rhythm of the Canon. The actor is trapped in the dream-like world, while she enjoys the healing music. When the world zooms out, the supermarket disappears and the grid appears as the main visual character. Tomorrow is another day walking through the Trapping Canon.

《卡农困境》反应了疫情期间反复无序的生活,音乐来自约翰·塞巴斯蒂安·巴赫撰写的卡农BWV 1087的片段。在疫情时期,人们已经习惯被困于重复的日常生活中。遵循社交距离的原则,每个人都被限制于私人空间中,被排列与镶嵌成建筑物的立面网格阵列。超市是我们偶尔能够享受到在更大空间中自由行走的机会。然而,在不同的货架之间穿梭只是对重复日常的另一种体现。卡农的音乐构成来源于对主要旋律的重复、反转与变化,并为每个合唱添加调节以实现和声交响。在《卡农困境》中,演员走过超市的货架,影像被投射在建筑的窗口,依照卡农的音乐节奏进行剪辑,影像成为音乐的转译。演员在欣赏梦幻音乐的同时被困在梦幻般的世界中。当世界缩小时,超市消失了,而网格则成为主要的视觉特征。明天又是穿梭于卡农困境的另一天。
