RHINO 犀牛
Interactive Projection and Sound Design
Rhino is an interactive projection and sound design for theater performance, premiered at Beijing Dance Academy Blackbox Theater, featured at 2021 Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, Italy, "New Youth" The 4th China Academic Experimental Art Education Documentary Exhibition
Being a metaphor for uncertainty and fear, the Rhino fits into the contemporary social context in the time of pandemic. The projection is triggered and nuanced by live camera data and sound parameters, in order to render the atmosphere. And the projection itself feed back to the live camera and create an infinite loop of media. Multimedia becomes the content more than merely a tool for the theater, where the environment is enhanced and augmented through a dimensionality-raising process. With the engagement of media and the projection screen, actors step out of the limitation on stage and communicate with the audience. This project is directed by Xiaoxing Sun (lecturer at Tianjin Music Academy), produced by Dr. Yajiao Cai (assistant professor at Beijing Dance Academy), and assisted by Art Management Class at BDA. 作品首演于北京舞蹈学院黑匣子剧场，获得2021 Arte Laguna Prize，展出于意大利威尼斯军械库，2022 “新青年”——第四届学院实验艺术文献展
“犀牛”是戏剧表演交互式投影作品。作为不确定和恐惧的隐喻，到底有没有犀牛存在？从不相信到承认，从承认到被同化，整个装置试图表达不在场身体的在场性。投影由实时摄像数据和声音参数触发，渲染出紧张的环境氛围。投影本身同时反馈到摄像机中，创建出无限循环的媒体内容。多媒体本身不仅是表达工具，也是演出内容的重要组成部分，拓展了表演本身的时空维度。借助多媒体和交互投影，演员们打破“第四堵墙”，调动观者的感官系统，创造出更具沉浸式的体验。
