Global Water Dances
Global Water Dances (www.GlobalWaterDances.org) began as a collective idea of an international group of individuals, certified by the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS), with decades of experience in producing Movement Choirs: events that use community dance to create social cohesion through non-verbal communication. We connect and support a global community of choreographers and dancers to inspire action and international collaboration for water issues through the universal language of dance. 2021 is our sixth Global Water Dances event and our 10th year working and dancing together for safe water.
Coney Island Art Dance - CIAD
Coney Island Art Dance - CIAD is a site-specific event of Global Water Dance. CIAD will engage local artists in Brooklyn, New York to raise people’s awareness about Coney Island’s pollution from the individuals, infrastructure and natural storms. Artists of different backgrounds will improvise artworks and will be documented into a short film. After the event, the artworks and film will be exhibited on CIAD website.
Art, Dance, Community, Environment
We celebrate water and life through the art of dance. Dance is a universal language, a way to eliminate the barrier among us, and enables us to create, communicate and appreciate art freely and equally, beyond time and space. Holding this belief, how do our local artists respond to the issue of water and environment?
